About Larnaca
Larnaka is a relaxed resort in Cyprus. For tourists and locals alike probably the most characteristic image of the town is its wide seafront promenade by mature palm trees and lined with cafes and taverns. On one end, the Marina welcomes international yachts and on the other end, the town’s 17th century fort houses the Larnaka Medieval Museum. Nearby are the Pierides Foundation and the Larnaka district Archaeological Museums for interesting antiquities, and the Larnaka Municipality Cultural Center for more modern shows.

The main international airport linking Cyprus to the outside world is on the edge of town directly opposite Larnaka salt lake.

Just 11 km west of Larnaka is the 11th century Angeloktisti Church in Kiti village known for its rare 6th Byzantine mosaic. Stavrovouni, one of the oldest and most dramatically sited monasteries in Cyprus is not far away, neither is Lefkara village, famous for its lace and silver. A little further south, Choirokoitia village is the site of one of the world's most important Neolithic settlements.

On the edge of Larnaka Bay the palm-lined seafront of Larnaka town bustles with cafes, taverns, shops and bars. Historic charm is lent to the scene by its fortress castle, now used as the town's summer cultural center. Larnaka is an excellent base from which to get to know the central and eastern section of Cyprus, and its proximity to the International Airport and a number of luxury hotels that have been developed along its beautiful sandy beaches make this a popular holiday choice.

The sea front in Larnaka has a lovely array of tropical palm trees making it the ideal place to sit and relax whilst soaking up the glorious sunshine. There are also water sports available to the more energetic holidaymaker and plenty of taverns and bars along the sea front if you just want to relax.

Its main shopping area is Zenon Kitieos Street, a typically busy road of small shops, with a wonderfully colorful fruit and vegetable market at the far end.
What ever it is you want from your holiday Larnaka has plenty to offer from a peaceful stroll under the palm trees, to a busy bar on an evening for a bit of night time entertainment in Cyprus.
